“What I Need” is designed to assess specifically what a student needs to improve their reading, writing, organization or study skills to create a plan to build the foundation necessary for future learning.
Working in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professionals who can offer initial insight of the child’s progress and needs, along with detailed assessment data collected by W.I.N., a specialized academic learning plan is created to enhance a student’s experience. Each multi-sensory lesson is specially created using Orton-Gillingham methods (supplemented by additional programs such as Lindamood-Bell methodology as necessary) to ensure continued forward progress in acquiring skills.
Once initial goals are met, further guidance is an option for those wishing to get ahead in their developmental skills.
W.I.N. is designed to assist students at any age.
A specific number of sessions cannot be determined as every student comes with their unique set of needs. Upon analysis of assessment data, a plan can be created which will identify specific goals. As with any learning program, it is recommended that, for optimal learning, students attend 2-3 sessions per week until learning goals are mastered or parents are satisfied with the students’ abilities. Fewer than 2-sessions/week slows results.
On occasion, 4-5 sessions per week may be recommended as a kick-off (followed by the 2-3 session/week schedule), as a special Intense “Summer Camp Immersion” (which only goes for 2 to 3 weeks, followed by 2-3 sessions), or as needed on a temporary basis. Consistent 4-5 sessions per week could lead to attending too often, causing learning burnout.
Homework is not assigned by Learning Coaches, however practice recommendations for activities between sessions may be offered to students and parents upon request.
(NOTE: An additional Homeschool Consultant fee may be added only if Learning Coach needs to create specialized materials for recommendations or discussions are longer than the “15-minute Session Wrap”. )
